House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp recently shared a tax reform discussion draft that is causing quite a stir in Washington. No one seems to believe the Camp discussion draft has much chance of becoming law, because many of its provisions have negative impacts and don’t generate any real revenue for the government. Regardless of the chances for success, we always take a proactive approach with our lobbyist on any provisions we believe to be detrimental to charitable giving in our country.

Our 2012 annual report is rolling off the presses as I type this, and we are thrilled to share our success in the form of an infographic again this year.
It’s amazing to see the growth we experienced in 2012, with more than $550 million in new contributions and assets totaling more than $1.6 billion at year-end. Of course, we can’t take the credit. It’s our generous donors who prove year after year that Kansas City is a center for charitable giving, and 2013 should be no different.
